Why Yoga Legislation is Urgently Needed

Comprehensive legislation is essential to protect the integrity of yoga and ensure its authentic practice across India

Stop Yoga Defaming

Multiple complaints pending in AYUSH ministry under Media Cell due to lack of laws to prevent defamation of yoga in media, advertisements, and inappropriate representations like "Nude Yoga" and "Porn Yoga".

Yoga Gradation System

Establish a proper grading system for yoga students in schools and colleges to recognize and certify their skills at different levels, similar to belt systems in martial arts.

Registration of Professionals

Mandatory registration of UGC degree holders as certified yoga professionals to ensure only qualified individuals practice and teach yoga, similar to medical professionals.

Yoga Teacher Policy

Create national policy to recruit qualified yoga teachers in schools, colleges with minimum salary standards and clear career progression pathways.

Stop Non-Professionals

Prevent unqualified individuals from entering the yogic field through strict entry barriers based on UGC-approved degrees only.

Safety and Security

Ensure physical and emotional safety of yoga students and practitioners through regulated practices and certified professionals only.

National Yoga Sports Authority

Establish a national authority under Sports Ministry to regulate yoga sports and competitions with standardized rules, grading systems, and national championships.

Yogic Research Department

Create separate yoga research departments in all universities dealing with yoga, independent from Physical Education or Ayurveda departments, with dedicated funding.

Common Yoga Syllabus

Implement a single standardized yoga syllabus for all schools and colleges across India with uniform fee structure to ensure equal access to quality yoga education.
